New York Lower Voices Sing

New York Lower Voices Sing is an annual event hosted by the Cornell University Glee Club, the premier tenor-bass choir at Cornell. We host this event to encourage young TTBB voices to continue singing not only through high school, but throughout their collegiate and adult lives. This year’s event will be hosted on February 10th, 2024.

This year, our Guest Clinician is Dr. André Thomas. From 2020-2022, Dr. Thomas was Visiting Professor of Choral Conducting and Conductor of Camerata at Yale University. We are thrilled to welcome him to campus this spring!

Attending students will meet with the Glee Club on campus in the morning at 9:00am and spend the beginning of the day rehearsing together. After lunch (included), the students will be taught a song by The Hangovers, the a cappella subset of the Glee Club, and then rehearse more with the full Glee Club. The afternoon will culminate in a joint concert showcasing the repertoire learned that day at 5pm, attire for which is a white dress shirt, tie, black pants, and black shoes.

Thank you for your interest, and please feel free to direct any questions you might have to our current Secretary at nylvs@gleeclub.cornell.edu.

The Glee Club is excited to host singers at our very own Cornell University where they can share in a longtime tradition of on-campus singing. Students will have a chance to see the campus and rehearse in Cornell’s main music building, Lincoln Hall. The day will end with a concert in Sage Chapel, one of the Glee Club’s favorite performance spaces.

Registration

Registration costs $30 per student, but we are also offering a flat rate of $100 per school to send an unlimited number of students. If there are financial concerns, please contact us as scholarships are available.
