For each time slot, there are two spots available for auditionees. If both spots are filled, it will say "Already Reserved" next to that time slot 2 times. If it only says "Already Reserved" 1 time and/or if there is a button that says "Sign Up" next to the time, there is a free space!
Click on the "Sign Up" Button next to the time you would like.
Please write your Cornell e-mail address in the comments section, and write your full name in the space for your name.
You do NOT need to sign up for an account in order to audition! We will have your e-mail address and be able to contact you with any necessary information.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to e-mail Asa at president@gleeclub.cornell.edu
The Audition Process
The Cornell University Glee Club, Chorus, Chorale, and Chamber Singers hold joint first-round auditions at the beginning of each academic semester. The World Music Ensemble and the Sage Chapel Choir do not require auditions, but interested singers are encouraged to audition nonetheless.
Auditions are structured in two rounds.
In the first round audition, each singer is evaluated individually according to their vocal range, pitch-matching ability, and basic sight-reading skill, demonstrated through a series of guided exercises and singing one verse of America (My Country 'Tis of Thee), for which words will be provided. No preparation is necessary for first-round auditions.
Scheduling auditions in advance is highly recommended, but walk-in auditions are allowed if the audition schedule permits. Also, while sight-reading is important, it is not expected that all new members will be excellent sight-readers. Based on the results of the first-round auditions, a limited number of auditionees will be selected to participate in the second round of auditions. All auditionees will be notified of their results by phone or email.
Each vocal ensemble holds its own second-round auditions. If you audition for multiple groups, you may be called back to separate second-round auditions for each of them.
